Carl Brown

Carl Lawton Brown, 66, of Siloam Springs, died Aug. 3, 2011, at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born Aug. 16, 1944, in Siloam Springs at the local fire station to Frank Lawton and Elsie Lee Brown. He married Mary Dell Asher in Stilwell, Okla., on Jan. 17, 1980. He enjoyed farming and tractor-pulls and was a member of several tractor clubs: the Rustic Relics, Green Country Tractor Club and the Tired Iron Club. He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Summers Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Brown of the home; children, Justine Kay Owens and husband Bill of Lincoln, Charlie Brown and wife Carol of Huntsville, Delbert Wayne Shreve and wife Danyle of Lincoln, Andy Shreve and wife Shawna of Siloam Springs, Scott Shreve and wife Tonya of Cincinnati, Karin Lea and husband Scott “Junior” of Watts, Okla.; 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Franklin Brown and wife Gloria of Colcord, Okla., Darel Brown and wife Ruth of Siloam Springs, Mike England and wife Phyliss of Siloam Springs; two sisters, Karel Stewart of Siloam Springs, Debbie Brown and husband Tom of Hot Springs; stepfather, Carl England of Siloam Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, James Lawton and Carl Lawton, Jr.; one brother, Garel Brown.

Funeral was Aug. 8 at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel in Siloam Springs, with Paul Young, Phil Misenheimer and Ronnie Bradshaw officiating. Burial was at Bell Cemetery in Watts, Okla. Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Jette Coleman

Jette L. Coleman, 84, died Aug. 1, 2011, at the Bradford House in Bentonville.

She was born in Monte Ne on Sept. 2, 1927, to William and Bertha Mae (Peckinpaugh) Autrey. She was married to the late Ora L. Coleman. She was a homemaker and seamstress and owned a home-based tailoring business. She loved to quilt and belonged to a group called Morning Star. She was also very active in the 4-H Club, Care and Share in Gravette and taught Sunday school at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur. She was a member of the church for 50 years.

She is survived by her two sons, Jim and Mary Coleman of Rogers, Larry Coleman of Huntsville; two daughters, Delores and Bob Jones of Pea Ridge, Linda and Gerald Webb of Decatur; sister, Jean Rusk of Bentonville; 10 grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral was held Aug. 6 at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, with David Hollowell officiating. Her burial was at the Coffelt Cemetery in Vaughn. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, Rogers.

Velma Heald

Velma Lorene Heald, 95, of Siloam Springs, died Aug, 5, 2011, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab.

She was born May 10, 1916, in Elk City, Okla., she was the daughter of Harry Allen Cavanaugh and Minnie Maude Atkinson Cavanaugh. She lived most of her life in the Gentry area and was co-owner and operator of Heald’s Service Station. She also was a cafeteria supervisor for Gentry School. She was a member of the Gentry Eastern Star and was a Pink Lady with the Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Gentry United Methodist Church in Gentry.

She was preceded in death by her husband W.B. “Tuffy” Heald; her step mother who raised her from an early age after the death of her mother, Myrtle Mayes Cavanaugh; one brother, Carl Cavanaugh; and one sister, Edna Lesnett.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Heald and wife Judi of Okarche, Okla., and Allen Heald and wife Flora Mae of Siloam Springs; four grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were Aug. 8 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Jim Whisenant officiating. Burial followed at Gentry Cemetery, Gentry. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Victor Hendrickson

Victor Byron “Pude” Hendrickson, 83, of Hiwasse, died Aug. 4, 2011.

He was born in Hiwasse, on Dec. 26, 1927, to Vic and Pauline (Banks) Hendrickson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He married Velma on May 7, 1961. They bought and operated the Hiwasse Store and also raised cattle and chickens. He was a member of the Hiwasse Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Velma of Hiwasse; two sons, Mick Lawson of Hiwasse, and Bill Hendrickson and his wife Linda of Bentonville; four daughters, Terry Pruitt and her husband David of Hiwasse, Vicki Brock and her husband Roy of Owasso, Okla., Carley Hendrickson of Hiwasse, and Lora Kelder and her husband “JJ” of Canada; one sister, Bertena Freeman of Lowell; eight grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 6 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, with Raymond Scott officiating. Burial followed at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse. Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, Bella Vista.

Merrill Reynolds

Merrill Gene Reynolds, 50, of Gentry, died Aug. 3, 2011, in Springdale.

He was born July 22, 1961, in Siloam Springs to Fred Reynolds and Wanda Bailey Reynolds. He received his truck driving training from Crowder College in Neosho, Mo., and was a driver for Tyson Foods, Springdale. He married Jeannie Sanders in Holdenville, Okla., on July 3, 1993. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gentry.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Reynolds.

Survivors include his wife Jeannie of the home; one son, David Reynolds and wife Heather of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one daughter, Jamie Reynolds of Neosho, Mo.; his mother, Wanda Reynolds of Hot Springs; one sister, Donna Smith of Hot Springs; and two brothers, Tom Reynolds of Arizona and Melvin Reynolds of Oklahoma.

Funeral services were Aug. 8 at First Baptist Church in Gentry, with Gary Cripps officiating. Burial followed at Fairmount Cemetery, near Gentry. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
