Burden named bank's new branch manager

Marc Burden replaces retiring Galyean at Gentry Bank's head post.

— Decatur State Bank has appointed vice president Marcus D. Burden as branch manager of Gentry Bank, succeeding recently-retired Paul Galyean.

“Good customer service is the lifeblood of banking, as in any business. It’s about bringing customers back. We want to send them away happy - happy enough to pass positive feedback about our bank along to others,” says Burden, who will follow inthe tradition of excellence in customer service and banking that Decatur State Bank has been proud of for many years.

Burden’s civic involvement includes membershipin the Gentr y Lions Club since 1998, currently serving as secretaryand past president; and a former board member of the Gentry United Way.

He resides in Decatur with his wife Terri and twoteenage daughters and is actively involved in the First Baptist Church in Decatur.

Burden attended the University of Arkansas, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1993. He is also a graduate of the Barret School of Banking in Memphis, Tenn.

His career in banking started with Decatur State Bank in 1990, working weekends and holidays as a teller and bookkeeper while attending the U of A. Following graduation, he moved into the lending department as a loan officer until his appointment to branch manager on Aug. 1.
