MT. PLEASANT NEWS

— Another Gravette Days has come and gone. The weather was good - not too hot and the rain had passed through. The parade was very nice. The best part was seeing old friends meeting for their class reunions.

Mt. Pleasant Church had a perfect spot for watching the parade and visiting with folks. We set up our water booth in the parking lot across from the Bank of Gravett again this year. We had a good time, passed out a lot of water and visited with a lot of friends.

One such friend, John Hight, told me that the last time he saw me and talked with me was a year ago andin the same spot. I told him that if he comes back next year, he would probably find me in the same spot again. We had a good visit.

Dorene Kerr Wills and Marlene Kerr Bush were at church on Sunday. Both were here for Gravette Days reunions. I think their years of graduation were 1952 and 1951 respectively. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jackson of Kansas City were here also. Robert told me that he had gone to school at Gravette until his senior year when his family moved to Kansas City. He unfortunately did not get to graduate at Gravette but still felt the ties to Gravette. We enjoyed having these fine folks back home for a visit.

We have been very blessed these past few days with the much-needed rain. I don't know the amount that we got but it was such a relief from the constant heat. My garden, what is left of it, has certainly responded. I won't be unhappy if it rains some more this week. Remember the County Fair is here this week. I don't remember too many years of County Fairs that we didn't have a lot of rain. Good luck to all the young and old that participate in the County Fair.

I hope everyone has a blessed week. Pray for each other and be mindful of the needs of each other. God bless.
