— Sympathy is extended to the Duffy family. Although Mary hadn’t lived in this area for several years, she will be remembered by a lot of you as a former schoolmate.

I was reading Susan’s column in last week’s paper and was happy to note her comment on putting black pepper on her cantaloupe. I’ve had people think I was crazy when I asked for black pepper for my cantaloupe.

Billie Keith and ReginaKeith visited briefly with Mae Kilgore at the Siloam Springs nursing home this week. Mae is not at all well.

Larry Keith has been on our sick list this week.

Sympathy is extended to Joe Fletcher and family at the loss of his sister.

Those having lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brooks on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ward Carrier, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Carrier, Mr. and Mrs. Lofty Carrier, Mike Carrier and me. Mr. and Mrs. Don Wall were callers in the afternoon.

Jake Carrier won a blue ribbon on his hog at the county fair last week. He also won peewee showmanship.

Leon Bertschy had two sisters from Kansas City visit this week.

Bob and Mattlee Grace spent a few days at their home in Bella Vista and attended church at the Church of Christ on Sunday.

August 24 is St. Bartholomew Day. If Bartholomew Day be fair or clear, then hope for a prosperous autumn that year.
