James Brewer

James Arthur “Art” Brewer, 94, longtime resident of Siloam Springs, died Aug. 16, 2011, at Quail Ridge Living Center, West Siloam Springs, Okla.

He was born July 17, 1917, in DeQueen, to James Ambrose Brewer and Bobbie Ellen Wright Brewer. He was a builder and a member of the Carpenters’ Union. He attended Sager Creek Community Church, Siloam Springs.

He was preceded in death by his wife Clara Mae in 1968.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Brewer and wife Judy of Colcord, Okla., Larry Brewer, Jim Brewer and wife Linda, all of Siloam Springs; five daughters, Janet Johnson of Joplin, Mo., Wanda Smith and husband Floyd of Skiatook, Okla., Barbara Ann Gray and husband Dennis of Colcord, Margaret Strickland and husband Guy of Siloam Springs, and Pam Harrison and husband Larry of West Siloam Springs; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great- and greatgreat-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Aug. 19 at Bell Cemetery near Watts, Okla., with Jim Henderson officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Mary Duffy

Mary Patricia Duffy, 58, of Tulsa, Okla., died Aug. 15, 2011, in Tulsa.

She was born Aug. 18, 1952, in Bentonville, to Glenn and Lereta Duffy. She was a 1970 graduate of Gravette High School. She worked in the cardiology department of St. John’s Hospital and enjoyed fishing and traveling.

She is survived by two brothers, Glenn Duffy Jr. and wife Betty of Gravette, and Michael Duffy of Lawrenceville, Ga.

Services were held Aug. 20 at First Baptist Church of Gravette with Glynn Bertrand officiating. Arrangements were by Epting Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Alta Evans

Alta Estaline Evans, 71, of Colcord, Okla., died Aug. 19, 2011, at her home.

She was born Oct. 27, 1939, in Goodland, Kan., to Theodore Walter Hundertmark and Margaret Catherine Nolan Hundertmark. She married Joseph Carl Evans on Aug. 20, 1957, in New Mexico. She worked in the bakery at IGA Foodliner in Siloam Springs. She enjoyed volleyball and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Siloam Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and her parents.

Survivors include five children, Carl Evans and wife Pat of Colcord, Carol Mitchell and husband Michael of Gentry, Sheryl Warren and husband Scott of Colcord, Aleta Miller and husband Tommy of Gentry, and Becky Broadie and husband David of Colcord; 10 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Walter Hundertmark and Harry Hundertmark; two sisters, Belle Caroline and Luella Black.

Funeral services were Aug. 22 at Liberty Baptist Church, Siloam Springs, with Jerry Abbott and Pastor Devore officiating. Burial followed at Row Cemetery, Colcord. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Lois Heaton

Lois Marion Heaton, 92, of Gravette, died Aug. 12, 2011, at Highland Health Care in Bella Vista.

She was born Feb. 17, 1919, in Amarillo, Tex., to Joseph Bolin and Laura Barton Bolin. She moved to Gravette in 1965 from Adrian, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Heaton and son David Heaton.

She is survived by four daughters, Caryl West of Gravette, Phyllis Garza of Waco, Tex., Jo Fowler of Gravette and Pegi Frisbie of Amarillo, Tex.; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 27, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel in Bella Vista, Ark. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

Linn Hogue

Linn Evans Hogue, Lt. Col USAF, retired, 61, of Castle Rock, Colo., died Aug. 17 after a battle with cancer.

He was born in Siloam Springs in August of 1950 to Jack and Lucille Hogue of Gentry. He attended first and sixth grades in Gentry schools. He graduated in 1971 from the University of Oklahoma and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. His Air Force career included tours of duty in Texas, Mississippi, Missouri, Germany, California, Ohio and Colorado. After his retirement in 1995, his family settled in Colorado and he worked as an aerospace systems engineer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Evans Hogue of Gentry.

He is survived by his mother Lucille Hogue and brother Wes Hogue, both of Gentry; brother Pat Hogue of Sebring, Fla.; sister Jackie Cherry of Magazine; his wife of 41 years, Joelle; son Barrett; daughter Dara (Bert) Hargrave; and two grandsons, all of Colorado.

Memorial service and interment are planned for late September at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo.

Hattie Jones

Hattie Jones, 98, of Siloam Springs, died Aug. 19, 2011, at her home.

She was born Jan. 6, 1913, in Kinsley, Kan., to Frank and Theresa Mauler. She lived most of her life in Gentry and Siloam Springs. She enjoyed quilting and gardening and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gentry.

Survivors include one son, Carl Jones and wife Barbara of Gentry; two daughters, Merlene Scott and Wanda Allen, both of Siloam Springs; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 22 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Larry Ellis officiating. Burial followed at Gentry Cemetery in Gentry. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Ruth Keith

Ruth Truesdell Keith, 79, of Gravette, died Aug. 15, 2011, in Gravette.

She was born July 2, 1932, in Kansas, to Emmitt and Flora Frisbee Truesdell. She was employed by Bear Brands, Marvin’s Building and Maintenance and Tyson’s. She was a member of Hickory Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Davis and husband Kenneth of Gravette; two brothers, Freddie Truesdell and wife Odena of Rogers and James Truesdell of Springdale; four grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.

Services were Aug. 18 at Benton County Funeral Home, with Stan Cox officiating. Burial was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Junavieve Mize

Junavieve Ruth (Denler) Mize, 83, of Siloam Springs died Aug. 19, 2011, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 12, 1928, in Duluth, Minn., to Arnold L. Denler and Lucille N. Moses Denler. She was a member of the Springtown Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Eugene Mize; three children, Leonard R. Mize, Janet D. Mize and Marvin A. Mize; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six sisters; and five brothers.

Funeral services were Aug. 23 at Springtown Seventh-day Adventist Church. There will be a private family burial in Fayetteville National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Sharon Morgan

Sharon K. Morgan, 51, of Gravette, died Aug. 16, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.

She was born Sept. 6, 1959, in Stella, Mo., to Melvin Fay Fletcher and Betty Jean Mahurin Fletcher. She worked as a beautician for several years and worked as a U.S.D.A. inspector for over 10 years in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Gravette and was very involved in the community and known as “Momma K.”

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, James “Jim” C. Morgan of Gravette; parents Pete and Betty Fletcher of Gravette; two sons, J.R. Morgan of Centerton and Jarod Morgan and wife Lacey of Gravette; one daughter, Dusti Foster and husband Bobby of Gravette; one brother, Joe Fletcher and wife Pam of Hiwasse; two sisters, Lisa Riggins and husband Michael of Rogers, and Rae Smith and husband Gale of Sulphur Springs; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 20 at First Assembly of God Church in Gravette. Burial was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse. Arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home of Bella Vista.

Sandra Reeves

Sandra Leann Reeves, 55, of Gentry, died Aug. 16, 2011.

She was born Feb. 10, 1956, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Jerle Reeves and Lorene Berry Reeves. She worked many years as a nursing assistant and in recent years was an employee of the Cherokee Casino.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Brandon Behne.

She is survived by her daughters, Stacy Robertson and husband Branden, Stefanie Furrow and husband Dustin, Heather Robinson and Mark Jones, all of Decatur; brothers, Rick Reeves of Gentry and Randy Reeves of Olathe, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will be holding private services at a later date. Arrangements are by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home in Rogers.

Bill Tebow

Bill “Billy Joe” Tebow, 71, of Hays, Kan., died Aug. 15, 2011.

He was born July 27, 1940, in Tulsa to Robert and Catherine Tebow. He spent his childhood in Southwest City, Mo., where he graduated from high school in 1958. He graduated from the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy and was in the pharmacy profession the rest of his life.

Survivors include his wife of almost 51 years, Barbara Lett Tebow; one daughter, Melanie Leepers and husband Fred of Salina, Kan.; one son, Jack Tebow and his wife Doris of Quinter, Kan.; one sister, Jane Dunagin and husband Al of Gravette; and six grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Aug. 20 in Hays, with a memorial service to be held at a later date in Southwest City, Mo.
