Wednesday, August 31, 2011

— The rapidly growing Decatur Northside Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization met on Tuesday night to make plans for fall events, including the upcoming fall festival.

The festival will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Oct. 29, and will include a silent auction, costume contest and lots of games and activities for kids. The event will also include a chili cook-off and chili supper with hot-dogs and Fritos also on the menu.

Donations will be accepted from the community for the silent auction, and elementary school classes will be working to make baskets to be sold at the auction.

Committees were formed at the meeting to cover the various areas involved in the fall festival, and parents who would like to participate in one of the committees are encouraged to contact PTO leaders Casey Frydrychowski or Karen Davis.

Other events in the works are:

◊A candy bar sales fundraiser for Nov. 7-30.

◊Photos with Santa Claus on Dec. 16.

◊Gift wrapping fundraiser on Dec. 17.

PTO meetings will be held monthly at 6 p.m., the third Tuesday of the month, at the Gallery Cafe. Parents are encouraged to attend. The next meeting will be held on Sept. 20.
