Richard Douglas

Richard Alan Douglas, 60, of Highfill, died Aug. 26, 2011, in Alma.

He was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Bentonville to Bruce Maxwell Douglas and Mary Orpha White Douglas and was a 1969 graduate of Gravette High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve and the Sea Bees. He was a delivery man delivering auto parts and worked many years doing silkscreen printing, telephone installation and repair. He was a leader in the Royal Rangers youth group and was a member of Mercy and Grace Cathedral, where he devoted countless hours to the food bank.

He was preceded in death by his father; his wife Mary; his brother, Robert Douglas; and one son, Matt Douglas.

Survivors include one son, Mike Albright of Siloam Springs; one daughter, Melissa Birchett of Hopewell, Va.; his mother, Orpha Douglas of Gravette; three sisters, Susan Holland and husband Jim and Nancy Spradling and husband Marlin, both of Gravette, and Mary A. Douglas of Anderson, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Highfill United Methodist Church, with Larry Marler, Euel Builderback and Russ Hall officiating. Burial will be at Douglas Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home.

Wilma Duncan

"Wilma" Yvonne Duncan, 78, of Oklahoma City, Okla., died Aug. 24, 2011, at Oklahoma City Integris Hospice.

She was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Colcord, Okla., to Clarence Huls and Mary Still Huls. She was an office worker for the California Public School until her retirement. She moved to Oklahoma City in 1990.

Survivors include her husband L.B. of the home; two daughters, Linda Diane Babcock and husband Jerry of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Paula Jo Mitchell of Silverton, Ore.; four grandchildren; and one brother, Ray Huls of Idaho.

Graveside services were Aug. 29, at Row Cemetery, in Colcord.

Wilbur ‘Bill’ Howard

Wilbur L. “Bill” Howard, 78, of Gravette, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Northwest Medical Center, Bentonville.

He was born Sept. 13, 1932, in Clifton Hill, Mo., to Clate and Florence (Prather) Howard. He was reared and educated in Missouri. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer by General Dynamics for 30 years. He married Betty Smith on Nov. 13, 1965, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was mayor of East Camden and served two terms as mayor in Gravette. He was serving on the Gravette City Council at the time of his death. He was actively involved in the American Legion, Kiwanis and many civic activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis, Ernie, Clarence, Gene and Avin; and sisters, Elsie Griffin, Becky Griffin and Pansy Brooks.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Howard of Gravette; two daughters, Jody Pritchard and husband Charles of Tulsa, Okla., and Irene Hartle and husband Joe of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Betty Johnston and Ruby Johnston, both of Marshall, Mo.

Funeral services were Aug. 29 at Gravette United Methodist Church, in Gravette, with Phil Sturdy officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Gravette, with military honors presented by Bella Vista Veterans Honor Guard.

Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, Bella Vista.

Charles S. Lakey

Charles S. Lakey, 77, of Gentry, formerly of Sulphur Springs, died Aug. 27, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.

He was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Sterling, Kan., to James and Clara (Young) Lakey. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey “Lavera” Lakey of Jane, Mo.; and three sons, Scott Lakey of Rogers, Terry Lakey of Prairie Grove and Tony Lakey of Grandview, Mo.

No local services are planned.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, Bella Vista.

Martha Quincosa

De Parker

Martha Quincosa De Parker, 67, of Siloam Springs died Aug. 21, 2011.

She was born Feb. 12, 1944, in Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico, to Jesus Quincosa and Soledad Maya de Ochoa. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Gentry.

Survivors include two sons, John Quincosa of Claremore, Okla., and James Franklin Parker of Gentry; two daughters, Lucy Winn and husband Lyndon of Siloam Springs, and Jane Bostwick and husband Charles of Gentry; three brothers; two sisters; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 26 at Coffelt Cemetery in Vaughn. Arrangements were by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home, Rogers.

Surrilda A. Reese

Surrilda A. Reese, 93, of Chanute, Kan., and formerly of Hiwasse, died Aug. 27, 2011, at Chanute Health Care in Chanute.

She was born in Picher, Okla. on Feb. 16, 1918, the daughter of Gordon and Myrtle (Pruette) Golden. She attended schools in Picher. She was united in marriage to David S. Reese on Dec. 24, 1934, in Pineville, Mo. They were married for 57 years, until his death in 1991. She moved to Chanute in 1992. She and her husband were concessionaires and traveled the United States for most of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and an infant sister.

She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Hibbs and her husband Dean of Chanute; three grandchildren; three great-greatgranddaughters; two sisters, Eleanor Burklow of Portage, Mich., and Irene Alexander of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and one brother, Jack Golden and his wife Irene of Hurst, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Daniels Cemetery in Hiwasse. Arrangements are by Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.

Ivan Walker

Ivan Walker, 71, of Gravette, died Aug. 22, 2011, at Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville.

He was born July 13, 1940, in Westville, Okla., to Bill and Alice Walker. He was a farmer and cattleman.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Walker; two sons, Justin Walker and wife Rachelle of Sarcoxie, Mo., and Kevin Martin of Gravette; a daughter, Angela Walker of Gravette; and a sister.

Funeral services were Aug. 26 at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse.
