— Two Gentry men were arrested Aug. 25 in connection with area burglaries and thefts.

According to Benton County Jail logs, Jeffrey Allen Hasty, 35, and Daniel Ross Jarnagan, 27, both of Gentry, were arrested and charged with three counts each of breaking or entering, theft of property and criminal trespass. They each were each charged with one count of residential burglary.

They were arrested when a land owner on Gann Road, north of Gentry, saw them at an unoccupied residence and blocked in their vehicle and called the sheriff’s office.

One was arrested at the scene and the other in Gentry. The Gentry Police Department assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office in the arrests.

According to jail logs, the two were being held in the Benton County Jail on Friday, with no bond set. Hasty was also being held on a misdemeanor warrant from Siloam Springs for failure to appear.

More burglaries

On Saturday evening, Gentry police issued a warning through the Benton County Alert System, warning Gentry residents to keep their doors and windows locked and to use outdoor lighting for extra security because at least two occupied homes were burglarized in the area of Meeker and Wilson Streets in the early, pre-dawn hours of Saturday.

Police are still investigating the crimes and are looking for at least two suspects, according to the alert message.

No arrests had been made in the new case as of Monday.
