DECATUR — Nine Decatur students and nine Gravette students placed in the Benton County Conservation District 2011 Conservation Poster Contest.
The best of show winners - two from Gravette and two from Decatur - will now compete at the state level of competition in Little Rock and could go on to compete at the National level, according to Decatur art teacher Jeanette Raymond.
“I am very proud of them. They all worked so very hard,” she said, “We have some really super students at Decatur Schools.”
Students from schools across Benton County competed in the event, Raymond said, but the results show that the bulk of winners were chosen from Decatur and Gravette Schools.
Winners for the kindergarten through first grade category are: Best of Show, Marlee Kinder; first place, Anderson Delgado; second place, Maria Struthers; and third place, Jackie Mendoza, all of Decatur schools.
Winners of the fourth through sixth grade category are: Best of Show, Darlene McVay; first place, Bella Dell; second place, Tyler Kardynalski; and third place, Chloe Walker, all of Gravette Middle School.
Winners of the seventh though ninth grade category are: Best of Show,Katherine Martinez of Gravette Middle School; first place, Stephanie Flores of Siloam Springs Middle school; second place, Michaela Boothe of Siloam Springs Middle School; and third place, Christopher Fenner of Decatur High School.
