Gentry Concerts

Choir concerts are planned for 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Gentry High School auditorium, with band concerts to follow at 7:45 p.m.

Decatur PTO Gift Wrapping

The Decatur Northside Elementary School PTO will be wrapping gifts in front of the Decatur General Store on Dec. 16. Payment will be by donation to raise money for a new basketball and recreation area for elementary students.

Holiday Party Reservations

A Christmas tree has been put up at the Maysville Community Building by members of the Maysville E.H. Club. Anyone desiring to use the building for holiday parties should make reservations by calling 291-0011 or 291-4542.

Decatur Christmas Decorating Contest

The Decatur Chamber of Commerce will be judging the annual Christmas home decorating contest on Dec. 15. The first-place winner will receive $50 in “Decatur Bucks” to be spent at any Decatur business. The second-place winner will receive $25.

Band Boosters Chili Supper

The Gravette High School Band Boosters will hold a chili supper and silent auction to benefit the band from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the GHS sports gym.

Springtown Hearing

A public hearing is set for 6 p.m., Dec. 13, at the town hall regarding the Arkansas Community and Economic Development Program project in Springtown. Town residents are encouraged to attend and participate in the community development process.

DHS Winter Concert

The Decatur School Band will hold a winter band concert at 7 p.m., Dec. 12, in the Decatur High School cafeteria. The elementary band and symphonic band will be featured. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.

Tuesday Bible Study

Bible studies (non-denominational) are held at 7 p.m. each Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church in Gravette. All are welcome. For more information, call Bill Bush, pastor, at 283-9346.

Food for Book Fines

Gravette Public Library will accept canned food in lieu of overdue book fines during the month of December. All items will be donated to the Feed My Sheep food pantry. For information, call 787-6955.

“Love Lights A Tree”

The annual “Love Lights A Tree” ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in Centennial Park on Hwy. 59 in downtown Gravette. The public is invited to attend as the red, white and blue lights are lit in the project which raises money to help fightcancer. The tree will remain lit throughout the holiday season.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Decatur Food Bank

Living Water Ministries in Decatur opens its food bank every other Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at 1148 Highway 102 West in Decatur. The next open date for the pantry will be Dec. 9. Anyone who needs assistance is welcome. All that is required is an identification (a photo ID is preferred) and current address. Area Men’s Breakfast

The Decatur United Methodist Church has a men’sbreakfast the second Saturday of each month, beginning at 8 a.m., at the Gallery Cafe in Decatur. All area men are invited to join the group for good food and Christian fellowship.

Emergency Help

Families in Gravette School District wishing to apply for emergency help with food or utilities may make application from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday through Friday, at the Main Street Care and Share store in Gravette.

Mt. Zion Singing

Regular fourth-Saturday singing will not be held at Mt. Zion Church during December.

Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church offers a food pantry program and a commodity food program for residents in Decatur from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are encouraged to come for the food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

Centerton Parade and Tree-lighting

The city of Centerton will hold its third annual Christmas parade and tree-lighting ceremony, postponed from Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. To sign up to be in the parade, call city hall at 795-2750.

Santa to visit DNE

Santa Claus will be visiting Northside ElementarySchool on the morning of Dec. 16 and students can have their photos made in his lap for $2. The event will benefit the PTO’s recreation area fund.

DNE Christmas Program

The Decatur Northside Elementary School will hold two Christmas programs on Dec. 21. Students in kindergarten through the third grade will perform in a program at 9 a.m., and students in fourth through sixth grades will perform in another program at 1:30 p.m. Parents and community members are invited to attend.

Decatur Holiday Hours

The Decatur City Hall will close at noon, Dec. 23, and will remain closed on Dec. 26 for the Christmas holiday.
