GRAVETTE — The weather cooperated beautifully for Gravette’s annual Christmas parade last Saturday.
Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the parade attracted a good crowd who watched the parade travel north on Hwy. 59, then east on Main Street.
Although the parade was somewhat shorter than usual, the floats entered filled Main Street with the Christmas spirit, which was amplified by the Gravette High School band’s performance.
A contingent of fire-fighting, emergency and law enforcement vehicles contributed to the excitement of children who waited, watched and then waved to Santa, who arrived on one of Gravette’s fire trucks.
Santa was followed into the Bank of Gravett by a host of childrenshepherded by their parents, grandparents and siblings. Pictures were taken, treats were distributed and adults enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies.
The late morning parade was summed up by a young mother who was holding the hand of one small daughter while another pushed forward in the crowd: “We wait for this every year and Santa never disappoints us.”
