Stop leads to two arrests

Gravette officers also find illegal weapon in vehicle

— Two men were arrested by Gravette police Dec. 2 during a traffic stop by officers Charles Skaggs and Travis Grant after Skaggs observed a black van driving recklessly and following another vehicle too closely.

Arrested were Jeremy Clifford Scates and James Heath Hamilton.

Scates was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Hamilton was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, resisting arrest, careless and prohibited driving and refusal to submit to a breath test at the county jail, where both were booked.

During an inventory of the van, a loaded 9 mm handgun was found, and Hamilton was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, in addition to the other charges.
