GRAVETTE — Two Gravette Lions football players were named to the 4-A All State football team, according to an announcement last week. Ten other Lions received 1-4A All Conference honors.
All-State Senior Darrick Strzelecki, running back, linebacker, was named “Back of the Year.” Strzelecki was one of three finalists for the Hootens/State Farm Offensive Player of the Year award and he is chosen to play in the upcoming 1-4A All Star Game.
Senior tackle, DE Jeremy McGarrah also received 4-A All State honors. Mc-Garrah played a stellar role in the Lions 10-3 winning season.
Ten seniors were named to 1-4A All ConferenceHonors. They are: Tyler Greenhaw, WR, CB; Cody Johnson, T, NG; Clayton Alexander, QB, FS; Dallas Kerley, RB, LB; Kelton McDougal, WR, LB; Glenn Overturf, RB, LB; Adam Roberts, WR, LB; Brandon Meek, WR, LB; Jordan Lundholm, WA, CB; and Brennon Webb, C, NG.
Coach Bill Harrelson’s Lions’ successful season ended in the state playoffs where they defeated Pocahontas 30-8 in first round action, topped Warren 48-3 in the second round and were edged by Pine Bluff Dollarway 20-13 in the quarter finals played at Lion Stadium.
