BELLA VISTA — The ordinance to annex Hiwasse into Bella Vista moved forward at a Bella Vista Council meeting Monday night.

Two of three ordinances to put annexation on the ballot May 22 moved on to the third reading in January without comment.

Alderman Jim Wozniak made a motion to table the ordinance concerning putting the Hiwasse annexation on the ballot.

Alderman Doug Farner reminded the council and audience that the ordinance is to merely put the question to ballot and let the voters decide.

Council members voted on the motion - three in favor, three against. Aldermen Wozniak, J.D. Shrum and Earl Berdine were for tabling the motion. Since the mayor decided not to vote, the motion failed because of the tie.

The ordinance will move to its third reading at the meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23.
