Sulphur Springs plans to update book

— “A History of Sulphur Springs,” which was published 24 years ago to commemorate the town’s centennial, is being revised and updated.

The project is being undertaken by the Sulphur Springs Museum Commission.

The hard-cover book, when updated, will contain all 128 pages of photographs and information in the original book plus an added section covering the last 24 years.

The commission is seeking pictures and brief family histories including new information for the book, said Petite Parker, a member of the commission. The information will be included free of charge.

The project is for all households, old and new families, as well as past and current residents, even if they were included in the original book. Updates, photos, school information and photos, churches, organizations, military, businesses and items of general interestare suggestions as are photos of groups such as ball teams, church/school groups, etc.

The deadline for submission of articles/photos is Jan. 15. Persons maysecure information by picking up a brochure at the city water department which is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at the museum on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Persons may also wish to guarantee by reserving a copy of the book which is expected to contain upto 180 pages and hundreds of photos. The early bird price of the book is $50. Sponsorships of pages are also available, the commission said.

The group also reminds there is no charge to include your article/photo in the book, but to guarantee receiving a copy a reservation is important.
