Wednesday, February 16, 2011

— Area residents are planning to clean up an abandoned cemetery near Cherokee City and are looking for others who may have family members buried there as well.

“My Quaker ancestors came to Northwest Arkansas from Sandyville, Iowa, after the Civil War,” wrote Karen Digby of Highfill.“A cousin and I have done family research for a number of years. Our family (name) was Haworth and we have two graves located at the cemetery. We and a lady at Cherokee City are planning to clean an abandoned cemetery called Kellam or Callam Cemetery. We would like to find others who have people buried there to help us.”
