— "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He cometh in the glory of His Father with the holy angels." Mark 8:38

What about you? Are you ashamed of Jesus and His Word in this present adulterous and sinful generation? Many are! They keep quiet about their faith and do not mention the name of Jesus lest someone take offence. Even preachers are sometimes unwilling to speak the whole truth of God’s Word lest they be branded a "religious fanatic" or “Biblebelieving.”

Think about Jesus’ words. Wouldn’t it be better to openly profess our allegiance to Jesus Christ and His Word than to shrink back and have Jesus ashamed of us at His coming? After all, He was not ashamed to become man and take our place on the cross and die for our sins that we might live! If we are ashamed of Jesus and His Word and turn away from Him, what hope have we for the hereafter? Apart from Jesus, we are left to face God's judgment in our sins. But when we, by the grace of God, trust in Jesus as our Savior, we have forgiveness for all sins and the assurance of life eternal!

Dear Lord Jesus, forgive us for being ashamed of You and Your Word, cleanse our hearts, and make us glad to be counted as Your disciples and bold to share the truth of Your Word. Amen.
