Picking up trash for a trip to national cheerleading competition

— Gentry cheerleaders pose with bags of trash they have collected to help raise money for their upcoming trip to national competition in Orlando, Fla. R&R Solutions in Gravette donated the bags and is paying them $5 for each full bag of trash collected to help with costs of the trip. If the cheerleaders are able to fill all the bags donated by R&R, the company will give them $1,500 toward their expenses.

As of Monday, the girls had filled 185 of the 300 bags available from R&R. The Gentry cheerleaders won the 4A state competition last month, making them eligible for the February competition in Florida. For more information or to donate toward the Gentry cheerleaders' first trip to national competition, contact cheer coach Joni Wilson at 524-2839. The squad is supported by fund-raising activities of parents and others, making it possible for the girls to participate regardless of the financial status of their families.
