— Overnight snowfall on Monday, ranging from one to two inches, and cold temperatures, caused slick highways and numerous accidents during the night and in the early morning hours Tuesday. The snowy weather also closed area schools and some businesses on Tuesday.

Local area residents awoke Tuesday morning to temperatures in the upper single digits and to iced-over roads and highways, making travel hazardous.

Schools in Decatur, Gentry and Gravette closed Tuesday because of the slippery road conditions.

Though temperatures were forecast to be even colder for today, the sunshine was at work to help road crews clear streets and highways.
