GRAVETTE — John Lee Mitchael, left, of Gravette, was honored as Volunteer Citizen of the Year at a meeting of city employees in December. Former mayor Bill Howard, right, made the presentation to a surprised Mitchael and his wife Ruth, guests at the event.

Howard recounted Mitchael's volunteer work with his church, with the American Legion, at the cemetery, and his extensive work for the Gravette Museum. "Whatever needs to be done, John will do it and you know it's done right," Howard said.
