HIWASSE - Sympathy is extended to Judy Sandlin and her family for the loss of her mother.

Lofty and DaleLynn Carrier took Maxine Holloway to Mulberry, Ark., on Wednesday evening to spend some time with her sister, Faye.

Lamarise Henry had surgery on Thursday. She is home now recovering.

There has been a rash of structure fires this week. I know it has been extremely cold and people are trying to keep warm, but please be careful.

Those having Sunday lunch with me were Mr. and Mrs. Ward Carrier, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Carrier and DaleLynn Carrier.

Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered at the home of Leon Carothers on Sunday evening to help him celebrate his birthday.

It was good to see Sue Habermehl able to be back in church on Sunday.

There are several sick ones in our community who need our prayers including Maxine Presley, Ruby Hight, Billie Keith and Gene Wilmott. I’m sure there are several others.

Trevor Blevins spent a couple of days with Lofty and DaleLynn Carrier this week due to school being closed.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carver and Jake and Novella Carlton met Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Gregg and Autumn at Red Lobster for supper Saturday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Rip Austin and Jake and Pam Bertschy gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Austin Sunday evening to help Ryan Austin celebrate her 14th birthday.

Jan. 19, 1825, Ezra Daggett and Thomas Kensett of New York were granted a patent for the tin can.

I got the stitches out of my face on Wednesday and the doctor told me I was ready to resume my normal activities so I went back to work Friday night.

Lofty Carrier hosted his annual New Years Day drop-in breakfast for family and friends on Saturday morning.

Billy Habermehl entered the VA Hospital in Little Rock on Monday for surgery.

Maxine Presley is undergoing some medical tests and needs our prayers.

Rick and Annette Banks are both sick with bronchitis.

Sue Habermehl is down with the shingles.

Those enjoying Sunday lunch with Ward and Paula Carrier were Lofty and DaleLynn Carrier, Amy Brooks and myself.

Ashlee Carothers spent Sunday visiting her dad Chris Carothers and other relatives.

Larry and Mary Holloway have returned home from Nebraska.

Marlo Hamilton returned to her home in St. Louis on Friday.

Jan. 5, 1855, King Camp Gillette, inventor of the safety razor, was born.
