Teis benefit set Jan. 29

— The Gravette Youth Basketball Program will hold a fund raiser Saturday, Jan. 29, at the old gym on the Gravette Middle School campus.

All the games will be dedicated to Johnny Teis and the day has been declared “Johnny the Brave Day.”

Johnny Teis, 8, is the son of Rob and Amanda Teis. He was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor last May and has spent weeks at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He has remained strong though the tumor continues to grow and his eyesight and speech are being affected.

There will be contests and raffles on Johnny’s Day and special recognition of the young man and his parents will be held at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Hope Hendren Duke, spokesperson for the youth basketball program, requested community members to attend and wear Johnny’s favorite color, green. Johnny’s Team T-shirts can be ordered for a $7 donation by contacting [email protected] or by calling 787-0675 by Jan. 21.

Among items at the raffle are a 37-inch LCD TV; tickets to “Mama Mia” at WAC; buffets at Golden Corral at Rogers; gift certificate to Main Sweets Bakery; gift card to Bud’s Family Style Chicken; a cedar chest made by R. Key Cabinets; and more.

Donations can be made to the Johnny Teis fund at Arvest Bank. For information, call 790-5507.
