Imogene Hollaway

Imogene L. Hollaway, 84, of Siloam Springs, died Jan. 14, 2011, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

She was born April 30, 1926, in Clemscott, Okla., to Ed Samuel Booher and Tincy Jewell Booher. She attended junior college at Ventura, Calif., and was a retired secretary to the Naval Library at Point McGoo, Calif. On Sept. 21, 1946, she married Glen W. Hollaway at Yuma, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Alfred “A.B.” Booher.

Survivors include her husband, Glen W. Hollaway of Siloam Springs.

Funeral services were Jan. 17, at First Christian Church, Siloam Springs, with Dean Boyer officiating. Burial was at Springtown Cemetery, Springtown.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Michael Allen Jay

Michael Allen Jay, 21, of Colcord, Okla., died Jan. 8, 2011, at his home.

He was born Jan. 23, 1989, in Oceanside, Calif., to Frankie Jay and Amanda Parmain Jay. He was an artist and had previously lived in Seneca, Mo., before moving to Colcord.

Survivors include his dad and mom, Shawn Volkmann and Amanda of Colcord; his father, Frankie Jay and wife Holly of Rockaway Beach, Mo.; three brothers, Scotty Jay of Colcord, Cody Scopel of Seneca, and Steven Newberry of Racine, Mo.; two sisters, Amber Jay and Jessie Jay, both of Rockaway Beach;

grandparents Willard Salkill of Gravette, and Bonnie Parmain of Colcord.

Memorial services will be March 17, at sundown in the Colcord City Park, Colcord. He will be buried alongside his brother, Christopher, at a later date.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Cecilia "Mary" Martin

Cecilia “Mary” Martin, 61, of Siloam Springs, died Jan. 12, 2011, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 29, 1949, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Cecil Shrock and Mary Alice Metcalf Shrock. She moved to Siloam Springs from Dallas, Texas, 20 years ago. She was previously an activities director for Quail Ridge Nursing Home, West Siloam Springs, Okla. She was a Seventh-day Adventist.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, James Woods.

Survivors include two daughters, Balinda Graham and husband David of Charlotte, N.C., Vicky McCombs and husband James of Colcord, Okla.; two sons, Eddie Woods and wife Becca of Lowell, and Jimmy Woods and wife Leah of Springdale; 11 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Denali Fox of Colcord, Aleutia Beeskow of Chicago, Ill., and Linda Woods of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Jack Chapman and Wayne Shrock.

Funeral services were Jan. 16, at Wasson FuneralHome, Siloam Springs, with David Graham officiating. Burial followed at Fairmount Cemetery, near Gentry.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Gegatie Mather

Gegatie “Dale” Mather, 51, of Bentonville, died Jan. 13, 2011.

He was born June 5, 1959, in Springdale, to Paul D. and Ellen Mather. He was a native of Bentonville and also lived for a time in Justin, Texas, and Las Vegas, Nev. He played basketball for the Bentonville Tigers and also set several high school records, including pole vault and track. He graduated in 1977. He was also a self-taught musician and loved his guitar. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Tandee Michelle Mather; his grandmother, Mae Branscum; grandfather, Earl Branscum; grandmother, Florence Mather, and grandfather, Oval Mather.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Ellen Mather of Pea Ridge and Mountain View; his sister, Jan Mather Hutson and husband Dale of Pea Ridge; his daughter, Tandel Jo Mather Griesenauer andhusband Sean Griesenauer, and one grandson; his former wife and close friend, Shelly Ann Mather; two stepdaughters, Fawn Jensen and husband Jeremy Jensen of Bella Vista, Addie Bockholt and her children of Gravette.

Services were Jan. 17, at Rollins Funeral Home with Mike McEuen officiating. Interment followed in Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery, Rogers.

Ervin Lee Owens

Ervin Lee Owens, 77, lifelong resident of Decatur, died Jan. 13, 2011, at Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale.

He was born April 13, 1933, in Decatur, to Isaac Lee “Ike” Owens and Irene Sebeck Owens. He was a mechanic and farmer. He was a member of the Gentry Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Retha M. Carman Owens.

Survivors include five sons, Larry Owens and wife Kathy of Lowell, Dennis Owens and wife Connie of Cherokee City, Bryan Owens and wife Twila of West Fork, Ikie Owens and wife Timmie, and Aaron Owens and wife Carol, all of Decatur; and one daughter, Cheryl Vaughn Lowe and husband Mike of Decatur;18 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were Jan. 17, at the Methodist Church, Decatur, with Audie Long officiating. Burial followed at Decatur Cemetery in Decatur.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Mary Jane Sitton

Mary Jane Sitton, 92, of Gentry, died Jan. 15, 2011, at the Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab Center in Siloam Springs.

She was born July 26, 1918, in Gentry, to Fountain Edwards and Edith Hatfield Edwards. She was a homemaker and life-long resident of the Gentry area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gentry,where she taught Sunday School for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland “Garnie” Sitton; one son, Gilbert Wayne Sitton; a granddaughter, Karen Sitton; her parents; two brothers, Bob and Jim; and one sister, “Teeny.”

Survivors include her daughter, Gayle Murphy and husband Terry of Gentry; two sons, Paul Sitton and wife Nancy of Gentry, and Howard Sitton and wife Pam of Grove, Okla.; seven grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.

Graveside services were Jan. 18, at the Gentry Cemetery in Gentry, with Keith Harper officiating.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

James Edward Spykstra

James Edward Spykstra, 81, of Siloam Springs, died Jan. 9, 2011, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 26, 1929, in Denver, Colo., to Yelle Durk Spykstra and Johanna Kruitbusch Spykstra, both of whom had immigrated from Holland. He moved to Siloam Springs in 2000 from East Texas. He was a printer for Rocky Mountain Bank Note Company in Denver, Colo. On May 2, 1975, he married DelJean May Backues Wolfe in Brighton, Colo. He was a member of the Gentry Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Ann Freisen; and one brother, Dick Spykstra.

Survivors include his wife, DelJean, of the home; four children, Linda White and husband Steve of Fort Collins, Colo., James Spykstra Jr. and wife Leah of Lakewood, Colo., Susan Lapagalia of Castle Rock, Colo., and SteveSpykstra and wife Becky of Chandler, Ariz.; four stepchildren, JoDel Mize and husband Leonard of Grant, Ala., Mardel Robeson and husband Bruce of Gentry, Rodney Wolfe and wife Connie of Arvada, Colo., and LynnDel Khalil and husband Nagi of Sana’a, Yemen; brothers, Bernard Spykstra and wife Margy of Lakewood, Robert Spykstra and wife Jo, of Greeley, Colo., and Joe Spykstra and wife Devona of Loveland, Colo.

Funeral services were Jan. 15 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Gentry. Internment will be at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery, Denver.

Jack Willard Garrett

Jack Willard Garrett, 72, of Gravette, died Jan. 17, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.

He was born Oct. 2, 1938, in Siloam Springs, to Ray C. Garrett and Della May Nickel Garrett. He lived most of his life in northwest Arkansas. He served as a sharp shooter in theArmy. He was a marble and stone mason and also worked for the Benton County Road Department. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include three sons, Rodney Garrett and wife Sheila of Canton, Texas, Kevin Garrett and wife Brenda of Garfield, and Andrew Garrett of Fayetteville; one daughter, Sheila Brewer and husband David of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Raymond Garrett and wife Donna of Gentry, Roy Garrett of Vaughn, and Jerry Don Garrett and wife Ellie of Bella Vista; two sisters, Louise Riley and husband Leroy of Wichita, Kan., and Lois May Bobcock of Jay, Okla.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Jo Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Springtown Cemetery in Springtown.

Dalmer “Lefty” Neil Daharsh

Dalmer “Lefty” Neil Daharsh, 79, of Decatur, Arkansas, died January 14, 2011, at Ashley Health Center, Rogers, Arkansas. Born March 17, 1931, in Emporia, Kansas, he was the son of Chester Eckdall Daharsh and Lula Hassman Daharsh.

He lived most of his life in the Decatur area and was a hatchery manager for Peterson Industries. He also worked at two hardware stores, Bevers Hardware in Gentry, and Buy-Right Hardware in Decatur. He served in the Marines during the Korean War. Lefty married Betty Jean Shook in Decatur, Arkansas, on July 6, 1951.

He was affiliated with the Falling Springs Church, Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Betty of the home; two sons, Mike Daharsh and wife Lynette of Rogers, Arkansas, and Steve Daharsh and wife Kristi, of Rogers; one brother, Eugene Daharsh and wife Mildred of Emporia, Kansas; four grandchildren, Teri Mason and husband Gary, Jeremy Daharsh, Jordan Daharsh, Andrew Daharsh; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Daharsh, Jordan Daharsh, Andrew Daharsh, Gary Mason, Terry Smith, Russell Smith, and Joey Smith. Honorary pallbearers were John Smith and Gerald Corbin.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18 at Falling Springs Church, Decatur, Arkansas, with Dr. John Terry officiating. Burial followed at Falling Springs Cemetery, Decatur.
