— Gravette Gleamers 4-H has had a very busy fall and winter. In October we voted in our new officers. Our new officers for 2010-2011 are Klisha Poe, president; Candace Pembleton, vice-president; Tim McPherson, vice-president; Saber Treat, treasurer; Brooke Belts, secretary; Blake Belts, reporter; Colby Summerlin, devotion; Talon Summerlin, devotion; Katelyn Martin, Stormi Jo Pembleton and Ethan Cook, song leaders; McKenzie Brandon and Haley Graves, Cloverbud leaders and Anthony McPherson, Bryce Romine and Hanna Graves, photographers.

In November we had our annual 4-H banquet where the old officers handed the scrolls to the new officers. In December we led crafts at the County Cookie Craft Exchange and made candy cane reindeer ornaments. We also made Christmas cards and ornaments for the Gravette Senior Citizens Center. Also, all of our new officers attended the County Leadership Training Workshop atthe extension office.

In December we elected our club Valentine King and Queen who are Stormi Jo Pembleton and Coby Farriester.

In January we volunteered at the Bentonville Salvation Army and fed about 25 homeless people. We cooked and served spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and cake. Then afterwards we cleaned up the mess. The people at the shelter said they really appreciated our home-cooked meal.

At our January meeting we made Valentine Cans for the King and Queen’s donations. We will be distributing the cans throughout Gravette and Hiwasse businesses. Please donate. The more money we raise, the bigger chance they have being county king and queen. All the money donated goes to the Benton County 4-H, which pays for county activities for the 4-Hers.

The Valentine Carnival and pie baking contest is February 19 at the Benton County Fairgrounds in the Exhibit Building from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Come and have family fun and bring your friends.

Our next meeting is Monday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m., at the Gravette Civic Center. For more information on how to join 4-H or 4-H events, contact Cindy Pembleton, 479-644-9058.
