GRAVETTE — Daniel Poemoceah, a senior at Gravette High School, was recently named to the Region I Senior High All-Region Band as a result of tryouts held January 8 at Rogers High School. The competition involved sight-reading music, playing selected scales and performing prepared music. Percussionists must play the snare drum, timpani and a mallet instrument such as a marimba.
Of the approximately 75 percussionists who participated in the tryout, Daniel earned a “First Band, Second Chair” placement which is equivalent to a second place overall finishfor percussion and which makes him eligible to try out for the All-State Band in February.
Last fall Daniel was also named to the All-RegionOrchestra that performed in concert at the Arend Arts Center in November. He is the son of Dr. Marcus and Ruth Poemoceah of Gravette.
