Pittman hired as assistant principal and the girls' head basketball coach

— Will Pittman, who has served in the Huntsville school system the past five years, was hired as assistant high school principal and girls’ head basketballcoach in Gravette.

The action came during a special meeting of the Gravette school board last Wednesday. The unanimous decision came on recommendation from review committee membersJoEllen Hastings, Norman Mitchell, Duane Thomas and superintendent Andrea Kelly.

Pittman currently serves as assistant intermediate/ middle school principal, assistant senior girls’ basketball coach and assistant track coach in Huntsville.

Pittman attended schools in Hackett, near Fort Smith, received his bachelor of science-education degree in social studies from the University of Central Arkansas and his master’s degree in educational leadership from Harding University.

His 12 years of experience as an educator include teaching physics, chemistry, physical science, Arkansas history, U.S. history and physical education prior to his current positions.

He and his wife Melissa are parents of two daughters. Melissa Pittman is presently a teacher and coach at Huntsville.

According to the committee recommendation, “He desires the positions in Gravette because of the outstanding facilities and the opportunity to take the head coaching job of a team that has made tremendous strides in just two short years.”
