Theodore Conley

Theodore Martin Conley, 87, of Gentry, died May 23, 2011, in Fayetteville.

He was born July 31, 1923, in Ardmore, Okla., to Joseph Irl and Lila B. Lloyd Conley. He was a WWII Army veteran who served under Gen. Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from his position as a machinist at Mare Island Navel Shipyard in Vallejo, Calif. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 222 of Gentry. He was a storyteller, enjoyed sharing jokes and was frequently seen riding his powered wheel-chair, visiting around the neighborhood.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lavora Conley; children, Audrey Bradley, David Conley and Robin Conley of Gentry; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at Fairmount Cemetery near Gentry on May 31. Arrangements were by Benton County Funeral Home, Rogers.

Richard Glasscock

Richard Lee Glasscock, 81, of Johnson, Kan. died May 24, 2011, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kan.

He was born Sept. 15, 1929, in Sulphur Springs, to Virgil and Florence (Huff) Glasscock. After serving in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 in Korea, he moved to Johnson. He married Doris Nichols Jan. 23, 1954, in Clayton, N.M. They owned the Restwell Motel for 51 years. He farmed for Winger and Floyd Farms. He also was the custodian at the Stanton County Hospital. He enjoyed being a Little League coach, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Doris of the home; son, Richard R. and wife Bev of Johnson; one daughter, Diana Daniels and husband Doug of Johnson; one brother, Dean Glasscock of Johnson; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, one being his twin; and three sisters.

Graveside services were held May 28 at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, with Don Hasty officiating and with military rites conducted by VFW Post #3684. Arrangements were by Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.

Dixie Phillips

Dixie Arlene Phillips, 52, of Gravette, died May 27, 2011, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1959, in St. Louis, Mo., to Jack and Ruby Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her father, and daughter Felicia Taylor.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Phillips, of Gravette; her mother, Ruby Lucas of Sulphur Springs; four sons, Lee Colville and his fiancee Alicia of Rogers; Russell Spence and wife Katy of Gravette; Jason Phillips of Gateway, Dallas Adams of Springdale; two daughters, Stefanie Eskew and husband Tony of Lowell, Jeannie Morgan of Washburn, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse, with Cal Stewart officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory in Bella Vista.

Idabelle Puryear

Idabelle “Belle” M. Puryear, 93, of Wichita, Kan., and a former Gravette resident, died May 28, 2011.

She was born Nov. 5, 1917, in Wichita to Charles M. Maddox and Rose Marie (Mathers) Maddox. She was a homemaker who loved quilting and sewing and was a longtime member of the West Douglas Church of Christ in Wichita.

She was preceded in death by husband Robert N. Puryear and three brothers and three sisters.

She was survived by sons, Donald “Jerry” and wife Linda Puryear and Richard and wife Cindy, both of Cassville, Mo.; daughter, Iris “Sue” and husband Elmer Rotramel of Wichita; sister, Jane Rodgers of Buffalo, Okla., and numerous grandchildren, great-granchildren, and great-great-grandchilden.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m., June 2, at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita, and a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., June 3, at Daniel Cemetery, N. Mt. Pleasant Rd. in Gravette. Arrangements are by Resthaven Mortuary, Wichita, Kan.

Martha Wall

Martha Ann Wall, 59, of Gravette, died May 28, 2011, at Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette.

She was born Sept. 11, 1951, in El Paso, Texas, to Joseph Skaggs and Mona Lee Webb Skaggs. She was raised in Gentry and was a certified nurse aide for home health care.

Survivors include her husband, Ron Rose of the home; three children, Martha Elaine “Sissy” Johnson of England, Ark., Carl Newton Coonfield, and Richard Eudean Johnson and wife Jina, all of Gravette; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie Lee Skaggs, Jerry Skaggs; four half brothers, Sammy Skaggs, Danny Skaggs, Billy Skaggs, and Carl Dewayne Coonfield; two half sisters, Nancy Coleman, and Rosetta Justice; and one step brother, Robert Conrad.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 2, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Jheri Roberts officiating. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
