Gravette Legion post to retire worn flags

— The Gravette American Legion post will conduct a “Flag Retirement Ceremony” in which tattered and soiled flags can be disposed of in the proper and prescribed way. The event will begin at 6 p.m., June 14, on the lot behind the Gravette Civic Center.

Worn and faded flags are being accepted and persons may contact Post Commander Bill Howard, 787-6356, or Adjutant J R. Gibbs, 899-3506.

Post Vice-Commander Mike Carnahan will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs immediately following the ceremony and side dishes will be provided.

The public is invited to attend and participate in this ceremony, Gibbs said.
