Decatur Farm hosts horse show

— Trailers and horses filled the valley along Highway 102 east of Decatur on June 4 and 5 for the annual Legends Equestrian Center Hunter Jumper horse show.

The show, sanctioned by the Northwest Arkansas Hunter Jumper Association, held classes with higher jumps for more advanced riders on Saturday and lower jumps for beginning riders on Sunday. “Flat classes,” meaning not over jumps, were also offered in each division, along with fun classes such as leadline for young children not ready to ride on their own and a fun 1970s themed jump off on Saturday night.

Hunt Seat is a classical form of English riding based on the traditions of fox hunting. Hunt classes are judged on the horse’s movement and form, while jumping classes are judged on the speed at which a horseand rider can complete a course with the least number of errors, such as knocking down a fence.

Legends Equestrian Center, owned by Heather Swope, offers lessons for children and adults, as well as boarding, leasing and summer camps.
