DECATUR — More than 158 children participated in the Big Fisherman Little Fisherman Fishing Derby on Saturday.
The derby was sponsored by the Decatur Assembly of God Church, and Crystal Lake’s overflow pond was stocked with catfish by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Following are the derby winners for each category: Age 1-4 Biggest Fish - Jack Mayfield, 1.96 lbs; Smallest Fish - Jamie James; Heaviest Stringer - Kayla Philpott, 3.9 lbs.
Age 5-7 Biggest Fish - Lilly Lee, 1.6lbs.; Smallest Fish - Keira Digby; Heaviest Stringer - Kaitlyn Townsend, 3.9 lbs.
Age 8-11 Biggest Fish - Jordan Church, 2.1 lbs.; Smallest Fish - Austin Payne; Heaviest Stringer - Ben Philpott, 2.15 lbs.
Age 12 - 14 Biggest Fish - Jonathan Brandon; Heaviest Stringer - Robert Bush, 3.1 lbs.
Overall Winners
Overall Winners were Kayla Philpott for ages 1-7 and Robert Bush for ages 8-14. They were awarded with a free 30 minute airplane ride provided by Mike Mitchell of Crystal Lake Aviation.
Because Robert Bush had already left when the prizes were awarded, runner up Jonathon Brandon received the airplane ride.
