Benton County 4-H’ers succeed at District O’Rama competition

— Forty-nine 4-H members from Benton County competed with 4-H members from 25 other Arkansas counties at their District O’Rama in Ozark. Competitions included speech divisions, constructed and purchased fashion revues, bicycle, forestry, reel into sportfishing, baitcasting, BB shooting, performing arts in dance, instrumental, vocal, and horticulture.

Junior competitors are 4-H members, ages 9-13, and senior competitors include those 14-19 years of age.

The following brought home first-place honors in their competitions: Bloomfield 4-H: Samantha Lambert-Sr. Entomology, Sarah Mills-Sr. Constructed Casual Fashion Revue, Kaylin Cripps-Sr. Vocal; Evergreen 4-H: Adriana Joyce-Jr. Public Speaking, Alex Joyce-Jr. Food Fair; Cannonball 4-H: Holly Holmes-Smith-Jr. Health, Jennifer Isgrigg-Sr. Horse; Centerton 4-H: Jurnee Wilson-Jr. Entomology, Ethan Parker-Jr. Animal Science, Janeé Shofner-Sr. Constructed Dressy Fashion Revue; Town and Country 4-H: Noah Smith-Sr. Citizenship, Kendall Yarbrough-Jr. Casual Purchased Fashion Revue, Ashton Yarbrough-Jr. Dressy Purchased Fashion Revue; Nicodemus 4-H: Mitchell Baker-Jr. Reel into Sportfishing, Samantha Brandeberry-Sr. Dressy Purchased Fashion Revue; Battlefield 4-H: Ty Connolly-Jr. Citizenship; Siloam Springs 4-H: Carley Goggans-Jr. Dressy Purchased Fashion Revue; Apple Spur 4-H: Casey Jarding-Sr. Casual Purchased Fashion Revue, Rebekah Rheingans-Sr. Human Development, Mikaela Chatman-Sr. Dance; Cave Springs 4-H: Jessica Romines-Sr. Food Fair.

Second Place winnings went to Bloomfield 4-H: Kendra Speer-Sr. Safety; Logan 4-H: Kiley Weir-Jr. Pet Care; Cannonball 4-H: Tiffany Wyatt-Sr. Pet Care; Homespun 4-H: Howie Stettmeier-Sr. Ornamental Horticulture; Cave Springs 4-H: Ian Dexter-Sr. Environmental Stewardship; Town and Country 4-H: Kayton Coffee-Jr. Vocal, Cole and Lauren Leonard-Jr. Instrumental; Evergreen 4-H: Emily Brown-Sr. Instrumental, Nicodemus 4-H: Joseph Brandeberry-Jr. Forestry.

Third place included Town and Country 4-H: Sayer Smith-Sr. Public Speaking; Evergreen.

Apple Spur 4-H: JamieJarding-Jr. Casual Constructed Fashion Revue; Cave Springs 4-H: Kirby Romines- Sr. Consumer Economics.

The delegates elected a district vice president to serve on the State Officer Team for 2011-2012. Benton County 4-H member Sayer Smith from Gravette was elected to this position.
