Gravette Days in works

— Posters are appearing in downtown Gravette announcing the upcoming “Gravette Days 2011” celebration which this year is expanding to a three-day birthday party, August 11-13.

The event commemorates the founding of Gravette in 1893, and except for a few years during World War II has been celebrated annually.

The theme for the celebration this year is “Something Old, Something New,” and the sponsoring organization, the Greater Gravette Chamber of Commerce, invites everyone to “Revisit the Gravette Days of Your Youth” by enjoying activities for the whole family.

The poster proclaims the many activities which are being scheduled, including a craft fair, singing competitions, live music, Miss Gravette pageant, a softball tournament, firemen’s muster and even a turkey shoot, swim meet and poker run, among others, added to the traditional pancake breakfast and parade.

A schedule of times and locations for the various events will be published in the Westside Eagle Observer within a week or two. Information is available on the website: www. GravetteArkansas, com.
