GENTRY — The Pioneer baseball team, with little time to practice due to recent snows, suffered a big loss in their non-conference season opener at Greenland on Monday.

In four and a half innings of play, the Gentry varsity team lost 16-2.Gentry had three hits to Greenland’s 11, and six errors to Greenland’s one.

The Pioneers are scheduled to play Dover and Pottsville at Prairie Grove at 4:30 p.m. Thursday and at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The varsity and junior varsity teams’ first home games are scheduled for 5 p.m., March 10, Cedarville
