Police charge woman with stealing identity

— Silvia Carolina Yac-Poz, 43, of Siloam Springs, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly using another woman’s identity so she could work at Simmons Foods in Decatur.

According to a report from the Decatur Police Department, Yac-Poz was using the identity of Jennifer Macias of Okemah, Okla., and had signed Macias’ name on multiple documents at Simmons Foods.

Macias discovered that someone had stolen her identity when the Internal Revenue Service sent her a letter stating she owed taxes for working at Simmons Industries in Arkansas.

Decatur Police Sergeant Joe Savage contacted the Simmons Foods’ human resources office in Decatur and spoke to David Sutton (a city councilman). Sutton told police that two other human resource employees, Mary Doyle and Jerry Reece, had already placed Yac-Poz on administrative leave that morning, after she had admitted to using a false name, the report states.

Savage obtained a subpoena for Yac-Poz' employment records at Simmons Foods and found she had signed Macias’ name to six documents, including a W-4 income tax form, a Social Security card, and an employment application, the report states.

Decatur and Siloam Springs Police arrested Yac-Poz at her apartment in Siloam Springs. She produced an identification card from Guatemala to show proof of her real name, according to the report.

Yac-Poz told police she knew she did wrong by using the documents, according to the report. Yac-Poz said she purchased the birth certificate and Social Security card for $1,000 about three years ago in Green Forest, the report stated. Yac-Poz said she obtained the Arkansas Identification Card on her own, using the other two documents.

On Friday, Yac-Poz was being held in the Benton County Jail with a $2,500 bond on felony charges of forgery in the first degree.
