— A new recycling trailer is now in place in Gravette, according to Allyson Ransom, communications and resource efficiency director.

The trailer, located between Gravette City Hall and the police station along Highway 59 south in Gravette, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Ransom said. It is sponsored by the city of Gravette and the Benton County Solid Waste District, which will service the trailer on an as-needed schedule.

Bins are available for various types of recyclables which will be accepted, including No. 1 and 2 plastic bottles, aluminum cans, cardboard-mix, glass bottles and jars, mixed paper and steel cans.

“Proper preparation of your recyclables helps ensure the material will be recycled into usable products,” Ransom said.

Keeping items as clean and dry as possible, removing caps and rinsing items, as well as crushing items when possible, is requested. All types of paper are accepted but plastic over-wraps, credit cards and staples should be removed.

A large bin is available for flattened cardboard, cereal boxes, egg cartons, food packages and shopping bags, from which all plastic and Styrofoam should be removed. Cardboard with food attached should not be recycled.

There is no charge for this service. For more information, contact Gravette City Hall at 787-5757.
