— James Hess

James Brice Hess, 92, of Colcord, Okla., died Feb. 28, 2011, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs.

He was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Adair County, Okla., to James Hugh Hess and Maude Gertrude Welch Hess. He worked for Dow Chemical as a plant protection/security officer. He was an Army/Navy veteran of World War II. On Oct. 23, 1941, he married Lorene M. Myers in Jay, Okla. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Delores Jo Horvath and husband Bruce of Parkersburg, W.V.; one son, David Hess and wife Helen Marie of Colcord; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, George Edward Hess of Tulsa, Okla., and three sisters, Betty Joyce Smith of Claremore, Okla., Jean Engler and Geneva Rush of Tulsa.

Graveside services were March 5 at New Hope Cemetery in Chewey, Okla., with Ronnie Bradshaw officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

William Arthur Killgore, Jr.

William Arthur Killgore, Jr., 89, of Rose, Okla., died on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville.

He was born on Dec. 23, 1921, in Bristow, Okla., the son of William Arthur Killgore, Sr. and Stella Bruce Killgore. He moved with his family to Elida, N.M., in 1925, where he later graduated from ElidaHigh School. He was drafted out of Roosevelt County, served as a bombardier in the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Childress, Texas, where he met Mae Howard and they were married in 1949. They moved to Sallisaw, Okla., in 1952, and to Brownlee, Neb., in 1954, where he was a ranch foreman. In 1962, they moved to Hiwasse, where he began his career as a farrier in 1963. He was a member and elder of Hiwasse Christian Church. They moved to Rose, Okla., in 1995, and he retired in 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Chip Killgore; and sisters Lucille Dixon and Gladys Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, of Rose, Okla.; sons Jiggs Killgore and his wife Robin, of Crossville, Tenn.; Hank Killgore and his wife Marian, of Tahlequah, Okla.; brother Ray Killgore of Salisaw, Okla.; and sisters Dorothy Tomberlin of Overland Park, Kan., and Nola Faye Guerin of Arlington, Texas; and four grandsons.

A funeral service was held March 8 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel in Bella Vista. Burial was at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse.

Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Charles "Vol" Kimberling

Charles “Vol” Kimberling, 54, of Broken Arrow, Okla., died March 4, 2011, at his home.

He was born Oct. 21, 1956, in Tulsa, Okla., to Charles L. and Joyce V. (Wasson) Kimberling. He worked as an acupuncturist and was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Tulsa.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gail Kimberling.

Survivors include his parents, Charles and Joyce Kimberling of Broken Arrow; and one sister, Vicki Kimberling of Dallas, Texas.

Graveside services were March 7 at Springtown Cemetery in Springtown, with Charles Chadwick officiating. Burial followed.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Freddie Spyres

Freddie Ross Spyres, 61, of Colcord, Okla., died March 6, 2011, at his home.

He was born Aug. 29, 1949, in Colcord, to Leonard E. Spyres and Ruth Potter Spyres. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Citation Manufacturing.

He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Richie D. Woods.

Survivors include his mother, of Colcord; one brother, Doyle Hurt of Siloam Springs; and two sisters, Earlene Harper of Delta Junction, Alaska, and Judy Cochran and husband Vernon of Colcord.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, March 10, at Row Cemetery in Colcord, with Larry Ellis officiating. Burial will follow.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
