Basketball camp offered in Decatur

— The Decatur Community Spring Basketball League V will offer a free instructional skills camp for children in kindergarten through sixth grade in April.

The league’s objective will be to develop basic fundamental skills, as well as promote social interaction as a team. Each week youth will go through stations focusing on individual skills and drills, with emphasis on dribbling, ball handling,passing, shooting and defense.

The first practice will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., April 2, at the Decatur High School Gym. Regular season practices will start on April 7, and will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each Thursday in April. Games will also be held in the Decatur Gym from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. every Saturday, April 9 through May 7.

Snacks will be provided after each practice and game, and each player will receive an award at the end of the season.

Walk-in registration will be held during skills night, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., March 31, in the Decatur High School Gym. There is no cost to the student to participate. Registration forms will also be sent home with Decatur students, and parents can drop the forms off at their child’s school.
