McPherson collects coupons for a cause

— Anthony McPherson, a member of the Gravette Gleamers 4-H, has chosen as his club main project one that will help people save money through the use of coupons.

McPherson, 11, a fifth grader at Gravette Upper Elementary School, said his Consumer Education project is “to help families save money by providing them with coupons and other information to help their dollars go farther.”

He explains his project this way: “I have set up a box of free coupons at the Feed My Sheep foodpantry in Gravette, which serves about 50 families each week.” But, he adds, “I need your help. If you or someone you know gets the Sunday newspaper and does not use the coupons, or if you are a coupon saver, cut out what you use and then drop off the extra coupons at the Arvest Bank in Gravette.

“This will let me help some families, my community, my country and my world to ‘make the best better,’ which is the 4-H motto,” he said.

Anthony is shown with his free coupon sign beside Ann Honderich, director of the Feed My Sheep food pantry in Gravette.
