Sulphur announces 2011 events

— The Board of Directors of the Sulphur Springs Special Events, Inc., announced the planned events for the coming year. The thrust of SSSEI is to “Build Our Community Together”, the directors said.

Currently SSSEI is sponsoring a food drive to benefit families in the community. “We are accepting the following donations: Peanut butter, jelly, sliced ham and turkey, bread, mayo and mustard packets, chips, fruit cups, Jell-O cups, hot dogs, hot dog buns, lunch bags, Ziploc bags.

“Donations may be brought to the Sulphur Springs City Hall Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,” the directors said.

Program activities for the coming year, which are subject to change, include:

May: Award a deserving High School Senior with a scholarship; July 2: Annual Pancake Breakfast at Shiloh Dining Room in Sulphur Springs; October: Annual SSSEI Burr Oak Race in Sulphur Springs; November 20:Annual Dessert Auction at Old School Gymnasium in Sulphur Springs; December 3: Annual Progressive Dinner & Candlelight Service in Sulphur Springs.

“We encourage Sulphur Springs citizens to mark their calendars and plan to be involved in the activities,” the director said.
