Club had busy month during February

— The Gravette Gleamers 4-H Club met Feb. 14. Tim McPherson, vice-president, called the meeting to order. Katlynn Martin, Stormi Jo Pembleton and Ethan Cook led the song. New members and special guests were introduced by Brooke Belts, secretary.

We reviewed the 4-H emblem. The Pledge to the Flag of the United States of America was led by Talon Summerlin and Koby Farriester and the 4-H pledge was led by Colby Summerlin and Therrin Vandiver. The devotion was led by Talon Summerlin.

We had as special guest speakers the Gravette Fire Department. They taught us about the best kind of fire extinguishers for all fires and about how to use them. They also answered several questions concerning fire safety. We really enjoyed and appreciated their visit.Thank you, Romine family, for arranging their visit.

Brooke Belts read the treasurer’s report and Cindy Pembleton spoke on the adult county leaders meeting. We discussed old and new business and finished up the meeting. For our craft, which was led by Brooke and Blake Belts, we made bagel birdseed feeders. The club made 22. We hope the birds enjoyed them. On Feb. 18, some of our members attended the pie-baking workshop at the Belts home led by Brooke and Blake Belts.

The Benton County 4-H valentine carnival was held on Feb. 19 at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Eleven of our members entered pies in the pie-baking contest. Saber Treat won second place in the nut category. Our game for the carnival was the duck walk. The carnival was a great success and raised money for the Benton County 4-H Foundation.
