‘Parents Make the Difference’ night is counted big success

— The fourth annual “Parents Make the Difference” night was held Thursday, March 3, with 195 people at the Upper Elementary School for the event.

The meeting was designed to provide parents with Benchmark-related information. Teachers presented information about the open-response items that are on the exam. Students from each grade level then competed against each other to determine the Benchmark Exam experts. Students were shown multiplechoice questions and had to “buzz” in with the correct answer. This was an exciting time for both the students and the audience.

First-place students received trophies and the runners-up each received a medal, purchased with a donation from Arvest Bank and with Wizard Works of Gravette doing the engraving. Their donation and work was much appreciated.

The evening concluded with a meal. Food items were donated by Marvin’s Foods, Sonic of Moberly Lane in Bentonville, and McKee Foods. The Gravette PTO purchased hot dogs and buns for the event, and Jimmy Denver and Bo Moon did the grilling. Many members of the PTO and the Upper Elementary staff volunteered their time as well.
