The Gentry Lions Club will host its annual pancake supper from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, at the Gentry Middle School/High School cafeteria. Tickets are available for $5 at the door or from any Lions Club member.

Basketball Camp

The Decatur Community Spring Basketball League V will offer a free instructional skills camp for children in kindergarten through sixth grade in April. Walk-in registration will be held during skills night, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., March 31, at the Decatur High School Gym. Practices will be held on Thursday nights and games will be held on Saturday mornings at the Decatur High School Gym. Registration forms will be sent home with children from school and can be returned to the school office. Springtown Cemetery

The annual spring work day at the Springtown Cemetery is set for 9 a.m., Saturday, March 26. Those with family members buried there or who are interested in helping maintain this resting place are invited to bring their work gloves, rakes, hedge clippers or other tools. Maysville Cemetery

The Maysville Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, March 28, at the Maysville community building. Anyone interested in the upkeep of the cemetery is asked to attend this meeting. Election of officers will be held.

Maysville E.H. Club

The Maysville E. H. Club will hold a fundraiser Saturday, April 2, at the community building. Beans, cornbread, coleslaw, tea and coffee and cake will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost is a donation in the jar. A cake walk begins around 7 p.m. and pies will be sold. Everyone is invited to attend the event. Proceeds will help with summer operating expenses of the building.

Decatur Clean Up

Decatur’s annual spring clean up will be held on April 9. Roll-off Inc. will pick up bulky trash, such as furniture, household appliances with CFCs removed, mattresses, large toys, or Christmas trees, at the curb with their regular trash pick up. Items that will not be accepted include petroleum or paint products, tires, batteries, automotive fluids, engineparts, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, fluorescent bulbs, televisions, computer monitors, hazardous waste and liquid waste.

Jump Start June’s Heart

A chili supper and benefit auction for June Walls - who is in need of a heart transplant - will be held on April 9 at the Decatur Northside Elementary Cafateria. The chili supper will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a dessert and regular auction at 6 p.m. All proceeds will go to pay Walls’ medical expenses. Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Gentry Easter Egg Hunt will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 23, in the Gentry City Park. There will be four age groups - ages 3 and under; ages 4-5; ages 6-8; and ages 9-10. The event is being hosted by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce and the Gentry High School National Honor Society.

Tired Iron Show

The 19th Annual Spring show of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks is set for Friday through Sunday, April 15-17, at the club’s show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road southwest of Gentry. The show features antique engines, old tractors and farm equipment, operational saw mills and blacksmith shop, antique household items and much more. Benefit Sale

A benefit sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 24 and 25, at 606 Atlanta St. in Gravette. The sale will also be open from 8 a.m. until early afternoon on Saturday, March 26. Included in the sale are craft items, Christmas items, decorations, figurines and household items. Vegetarian Potluck

Decatur Health Club's monthly vegetarian potluckis set for 1:30 p.m., Sunday, March 27, at the Red Building, 790 E. Roller Ave., Decatur. It is not necessary to be a vegetarian to come; just bring a favorite vegetarian dish with the recipe on a card to share. Ann-Marie Scott, RN, will be the guest speaker, presenting "A Healthy Balance." The public is invited to join in an afternoon of good food, new friends and vital information.

Assembly of God Revival

The Gravette Assembly of God Church, at 1108 Main St. NW, will be in revival from Sunday, March 27, through Wednesday, March 30. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Evangelist is Rodney George from Henrietta, Okla. Gravette Holiness Revival

The Gravette Church of God (Holiness) will be in revival from March 29 to April 3. The public is invited to attend the services each night at 7:30 and on Sunday at 10:45 and 6. The speaker will be David Spivey, who served as principal of a Christian school in Detroit for five years. He has been an associate pastor for five years and is currently the associate youth pastor at the Bible Holiness Church in Shelbyville, Ind. He and his wife Jamie are parents of four children. BBQ Dinner Fundraiser

The Gravette Junior High cheerleaders will have a BBQ dinner fundraiser on Friday, April 1, to raise money for summer cheer camp. Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church offers a food pantry program and a commodity food program for residents in Decatur. Beginning on April 1, the programs will only be open the first and third Thursday of every month, from 5 to 7 p.m. Also beginning April 1, recipients must requalify for the programs.

Rabies Clinic in Gentry

Rabies Clinic Week in Gentry will be April 2 to 9. Local veterinarians often offer rabies vaccinations at discounted prices and some offer other yearly vaccinations at a reduced price as well. The Gentry Veterinary Clinic will offer the rabies vaccine for $5 off the regular price.

The Gentry animal control officer is seeking donations of collars and leashes for impounded dogs to assist in adopting them out to new homes. Call 736-8400.

Weather Radios

The city of Centerton is giving weather radios to its citizens at Centerton City Hall, 290 North Main Street in Centerton. There is no charge for the radios, but a copy of a utility bill is required. The radios are available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

NAGS meeting

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, March 28, at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 South Main in Bentonville. Susan Young, outreach coordinator for the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, will present a program on “Ozark Tombstone Art” which will focus on common and uncommon symbols found on grave markers in the Arkansas Ozarks, as well as look at “homemade” tombstones. She will also touch on folk traditions associated with Ozark cemeteries. The public is welcome to attend.

Knitting and Crocheting

Busy Hands Knitting and Crochet Group holds meetings in Decatur the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Men and women of all ages are invited - children under 13 need to be accompanied by an adult. The group is emphasizing making items for charities. Free lessons are available. Chair Exercise Program

The Gentry Senior Activity Center started a free chair exercise program called PEPPI (Peer Exercise Program Promotes Independence) at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and at 10 a.m. Thursdays. The program consists of stretching, strengthening and balance. It is designed to help prevent falls, to gain strength and flexibility in the limbs and to gain independence. The class is open to anyone, age 60 or above, and his or her spouse (regardless of age).

Computers Needed

The Gentry Lions Club is collecting and refurbishing computers and laptops and giving them to students in need of a computer. Computers and laptops - up to about 5 years old - are being accepted. Hard drives are reformatted and a lighter Linuxbased operating system and programs are installed. For more information or to donate a used computer to the Lions Club, contact Randy Moll at 233-0081.

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets on the first Tuesdayof each month - at 7 p.m. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.

Gentry Senior Activity Center, at 121 East Main Street (just east of the Gentry Public Library) is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals and rides to the center and activities are available Monday through Friday by calling Jackie Bader, the center’s manager, at 736-0378.

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Many activities are scheduled and lunch is served every weekday.
