JGT Club meets to discuss signs for deaf children

— The monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club was held Wednesday, April 27, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center with five members and one guest, Charlie Griffin, present.

President Jeanne Hubbard opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance to the flag and the singing of “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head”.

Five persons answered roll call. Mary read a joke proving there is a Lord. Susan read a poem, “The Mother of the Prodigal Son”. Betty read a poem about Easter lilies from the Easter sunrise service. Jeanne read a joke illustrating what happens when we don’t ask for directions. Eda told a joke about a shotgun wedding.

Secretary Betty Howard read the minutes of the March meeting and they were approved. Treasurer Mary Griffin gave the financial report.

In old business the group discussed the possibility of buying or helping fund the purchase of warning street signs for two deaf children in town. Betty volunteered to findout the cost of signs. Action was tabled until cost is determined.

Jeanne Hubbard gave the program, reading excerpts from the book “Homer’s Odyssey”.

Members sang the doxology and the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25. Eda Montag will give the program.
