— National Day of Prayer

Gentry Ministerial Alliance has planned for the 60th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 5, with First Baptist Church hosting a prayer breakfast at 7 a.m. Food will be provided by several Gentry churches. At least three pastors will be involved in the program, including Kevin Stowe of the First Assembly of God as the keynote speaker. The Ozark Adventist Academy choir will be singing during the meal.

K-6 Cheerleader Sign-up

Gravette cheerleading sign-up dates for Kindergarten through sixth grade will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Arvest Community Room from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the same location. For information, call Kim Durham at 366-2476 or Lesli Fournier at 248-705-0470.

Bethel Cemetery Work Day

A work day at Bethel Cemetery will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 7. The work day will be postponed if it rains. Please bring saws and tools. All help will be appreciated.

Decatur Pre-K Enrollment

The Decatur Northside Elementary School will be holding pre-kindergarten enrollment for 3 and 4 year old students from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 5. Parents are asked to bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate, Social Security card and vaccination records. For more information, call the school office at 752-3981.

Brian Arnold Concert

Brian Arnold, dubbed “America’s favorite one-hand pianist,” evangelist-singer from Branson, Mo., will be in concert at Victory Missionary Baptist Church, on East Main Street in Gentry, at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 7. The public is invited.

Gravette Blood Drive

Community Blood Centerof the Ozarks will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, at R & R Solutions, 601 First Avenue in Gravette. CBCO, which serves 37 hospitals, said it takes about 275 donations per day to meet their needs.

Diabetes/Obesity Ed.

Ozarks Community Hospital will hold free diabetes and obesity education classes the third Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. in the OCH cafeteria. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Reservations may be made by calling 344-6464. Contact Kathy Smith, instructor, at 344-6458 for information.

Gentry Band Yard Sale

The Gentry High School Band will hold its annual yard sale at the Marvin’s Foods parking lot on Saturday, May 7. Donations of items for the sale are being accepted. Call Shawn Hunter, 238-3195, for more information.

International Night

The Decatur Northside Elementary School is holding an International Night from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 5. Parents and community members are invited to tour the countries from around the world and learn about their cultures, food, dress and customs without ever leaving the school cafeteria. Wyatt Hopkins Poker Run

The Second Annual Wyatt Hopkins Memorial Poker Run, sponsored by the Decatur Fire Department, will be held May 7. All proceeds from the poker run will benefit the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Costs are $20 for riders and $10 for passengers, with a prize of $250 for the best hand and $150 for the worst hand. Participants will receive a T-shirt and lunch. The Decatur High School Graduation ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m., May 13, in the Lloyd Peterson Gymnasium.

Gentry Graduation

Gentry High School Graduation ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, May 16, at the Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville.

Gravette Graduation

Gravette High School Graduation ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 21, in the Gravette High School football stadium. In case of inclement weather, it will be moved inside to the competition gymnasium.

Care and Share Emergency Help

Families in Gravette School District wishing to apply for emergency help with food or utilities may make application from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday through Friday, at the Main Street Care and Share store.

Citywide Yard Sale

Gravette will hold a citywide yard sale on Saturday, June 11. No yard sale permits will be required for sales held on that date.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church offers a food pantry program and a commodity food program for residents in Decatur on the firstand third Thursday of every month, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering on the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. Each man is asked to bring a main dish or a side for dinner. VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets on the first Tuesday of each month - at 7:30 p.m. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.

Gentry Senior Center

Gentry Senior Activity Center, at 121 East Main Street (just east of the Gentry Public Library) is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals and rides to the center and activities are available Monday through Friday by calling Jackie Bader, the center’s manager, at 736-0378. Van routes are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - Gentry, Highfill and Springtown; and Tuesday and Friday - Gentry and Decatur.

Gravette Senior Center

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, at 1870 Limekiln Road, is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Many activities are scheduled and lunch is served every weekday.
