Eagle Observer LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Editor,

We would like to share with your readers the following letter sent to Carl Handley at the Flint Creek Power Plant:

“On Saturday, April 30, the Outdoor Adventures 4-H club went to the Eagle Watch and Nature Area. We met Terry Stanfill there and helped him plant native flowers and weed the flower beds. We also helped reset the butterfly garden where the flood waters had washed most of it away. The kids really seemed to enjoy getting outside and being able to do something productive.

“Mr. Stanfill is a great asset to the Eagle Watch and community, spending his retirement volunteering his time and energies towards making this area something we can all be proud of. Please continue to support him and his cause. He is a pleasure to work with.

“The Outdoor Adventures 4-H Club want to thank you and the Flint Creek Power Plant employees for providing such a wonderful place for groups to come to and interact with nature. Adults and children alike in Gentry and the surrounding areas benefit greatly from the Eagle Watch & Nature Area.” Sincerely, Outdoor Adventures 4-H Club Editor,

The Gentry Primary School staff would like to thank local community members and businesses for the time, money and donations they put into Teacher Appreciation Week last week, and Patricia Wilmoth for all her work to coordinate the events. The teachers appreciate all the encouragement and support they have shown us.

Thank you very much.

Gentry Primary School Editor,

On behalf of the City of Gravette, we would like to thank the Gravette Public School administration, teachers and students who helped the Gravette Communications Department on grant projectsthis school year. We are grateful to Dr. Kelly and the school principals, with their staff, as they encouraged parents to complete important surveys. We appreciated the help of Coach Jones and his East Lab students who worked many hours on mapping and on-site photography projects to include with our Wildlife Trail Grant and Safe Routes to School Grant submissions. We were fortunate to have the participation of Mr. Galloway and his Forensics class as well during a Recycling Education Grant program at Glenn Duffy Elementary. They performed a skit for grades K-2 about the Easter Bunny’s cousins who learned to stop littering and start recycling.

The City of Gravette looks forward to working in the future with such gifted students and motivated instructors and administrators whose contributions to the community go far beyond the school walls.
