— Gravette Lions baseball team ended its season Friday at the 4A North Regional tournament in Ozark.

The Lions were stymied by a strong Mena team which took the 5-inning game by an 11-0 score.

The Lady Lions playing Friday at the Regional tournament held in Clarksville toppled Waldron in a shutout 1-0, then went on to a 5-4 victory Saturday over Dardanelle to moveon to the championship game Monday, against Farmington.

Gravette fell behind when the Lady Cardinals took an early 3-0 lead on a homer by Kayla Crisp and were never able to gain traction.

After the first inning, Gravette pitcher Shayanne Nichols allowed only five hits and no walks in seven innings.

The Lady Lions will play Malvern in the state tournament this Friday at noon in Heber Springs.
