— Two area residents were arrested on drug charges Thursday after methamphetamine labs were found in a hotel room in which they were staying, police said.

Jason Michael James, 36, of 1050 S. Britt St., and Ann Marie Hancock, 39, of 21170 Chesney Road, were both arrested in a room at Super 7 Inn, said Sgt. Scott Miller of the narcotics unit for Siloam Springs Police Department.

Four Siloam Springs police officers, including Miller, initially went to the room to serve a felony warrant from Delaware County, Okla., on Hancock.

When they got there, they noticed two bottles of anhydrous liquid in the room. Two 20-ounce soda bottles were allegedly used as methamphetamine labs, Miller said.

These labs use the “one pot” manufacturing process where all ingredients are mixed together to create a solution, he said.

Then, it’s heated.

Police also found about 3 grams of cocaine and 1 gram of methamphetamine.

“The biggest part was the lab itself,” Miller said.

A special team that has a contract with the Drug Enforcement Agency was called in to clean the lab from the room.

The room has been condemned until it is cleaned up.

James had rented the room for two days.

Sgt. Derek Spicer, Cpl. Juan Aviles, officer Deandra Walters and Miller all responded to the drug arrest.

James and Hancock were arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, distribution near certain facilities, unauthorized use of property to commit a crime.

As of Friday, James and Hancock were being held in Benton County Jail without bond.

Arraignments are set for June 13 in Benton County Circuit Court.
