Graduation set for Saturday

— GRAVETTE - One hundred eleven Gravette High School seniors will receive their graduation diplomas Saturday at 10 a.m. in a ceremony at Lion Stadium, weather permitting. In case of rain the program will be held in the competition gym.

A traditional Baccalaureate service will be held the preceding evening, May 21, at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. The service will feature Donovan Fox, Bentonville Church of Christ youth past.

The Baccalaureate program will include congregational singing and a “SeniorMemories” film segment created by the GHS East Lab.

Honor graduates will have special parts during the program as well as at the commencement ceremonies.

Students recognized for their academic achievement are: Distinguished High Honors, Jessica Nicole Varner.

High Honors: Kaitlynn Nichole Britton, Jenna Ashley Brown, Cody Blake Bullock, Matthew Colton Davis, Amanda Rose Eddy, Jacob David Gillespie, Tyler Matthew Griffith, J Heath Houtchens, Cody Michael Montee, Briana Marie Panos, Amy Elizabeth Riles, Kahlief Aaron Steele, Trey Brandon Tyner, Samantha Jane Van Otterloo.

Honors: Tyler Jack Chevallier, Logan William Hendrickson, Taylor Graceson Kean, Shelby Nichole Newell.

At the close of the Commencement program Jo Ellen Hastings, GHS principal, will present the candidates who will receive their diplomas from Dr. Marion Harris, school board president, and Dr. Andrea Kelly, superintendent of schools.

The Class of 2011 chose the following motto: “Life brings us tears, smiles and memories - the tears dry, the smiles fade, but the memories will last forever.”

The class flower is the lily, class colors are orange, silver and white and sponsors for the class are Vic Clouse and Mrs. Shannon Mitchell.
