Gravette Post Office collects 600 pounds of food

— Almost 600 pounds of food were collected by the Gravette Post Office and its workers last Saturday during “Stamp Out Hunger Day,” a nationwide project of the Postal Service.

This is the first year Gravette has participated in the project, said Postmaster Gerald Garner.

“All of the food items will be donated to the ‘Feed My Sheep’ food pantry in Gravette,” he said.

The items were collected by rural carriers and in a collection bin in the post office lobby, Garner said.

Besides individual donations corporate sponsors include Walmart at Siloam Springs, Gravette Dollar General, Marvin’s atGravette and Gentry, Cherokee Strip at Gentry, the Bank of Gravett and Charlotte Robinson.
