One man arrested for possession of meth

— A man wanted in California was arrested by Gravette police officers during a recent traffic stop in Gravette.

According to Police Chief Trent Morrison, on Saturday, May 7, while investigating a reckless driver report, Gravette police officers Jeff Turner and Scott Gillming made contact with William London, 28, at the Phillips 66 station on Atlanta Street. During the investigation it was discovered that London had a warrant for arrest out of California for larceny and parole violation.

London was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. London was transported to the Benton County Jail and charged with possession of an instrument of crime. Heis being held for the State of California and awaiting extradition.

Sobriety Checkpoint

On Saturday, May 14, the Gravette Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office DWI Task Force conducted a sobriety checkpoint at two locations in Gravette.

During the operation, four impaired drivers were detected and taken off the road.

One subject was arrested on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), felony possession of drug paraphernalia, no driver’s license and refusal to submit to arrest. The subject was subdued and taken into custody by deputy sheriff Lynn Haun and Gravette officer Danny Henry.
